The Room: Birthday Celebration
I was the first one who arrived in the room. I waved hi to my ate Mhel, to her husband and to my 1 year old nephew, Sebastian, who’s celebrating his first birthday. After a while, my dad, mum and two nephews, Jusper and Venjo came in to the room with their joyous happy birthday song. And then ate Myra and her child Stacey came in followed by my eldest sister Miles. The last one to come was my brother-in-law, Alan, Miles husband, for he just came from work. So it’s one big happy family. The room was crowded and the energy was high. Everyone’s excited to tell his story and to kiss baby Sebastian. We had a very long talk about anything under the sun: Sebastian’s growth and development, Stacey’s good performance at school, wherein she got a perfect score in her spelling exam, Jusper’s practice for his badminton game, Venjo’s problem with one of his subjects and his crushes at school, Ate Myra’s car and her husband’s employment abroad, My dad’s high blood pressure, and etc. It seemed that the day was endless and perfect for a family gathering. We had the giggles, the laugh, the worries, and definitely the overwhelming joy of seeing each other. Baby Sebastian blew the candles and his parents made the wishes for him and we all sang aloud the happy birthday song. Then the food was served in a very palatable way, Ate Mhel’s starting to perfect her culinary skills. Then one by one bid goodbye and gave the longest kisses and hugs. It was a wonderful time and I was the last one who left the room. I stretched my arms and extended my back. My fingers got tensed and my left leg got cramps. I stood up and closed the conference room. Put down my headset, turned off the cam, and then shut down my computer. Then I went to bed, alone, and quite starving for the food I saw on the cam. Happy birthday Sebastian and I miss you all.
